2. CAN I FOREGO COATING THE CLADDING BY MYSELF?

Yes, you can: Osmo also offers you factory-finished cladding profiles in the colour of your choice. The colour treatment ex works makes the cladding profiles particularly resistant. The microporous coating also protects the wood against moisture and greying - and the wood can still “breathe”, contract and expand.

3. IS A CHEMICAL WOOD PROTECTION NECESSARY?

This depends on the respective wood species and on the weather conditions. The surfaces of some wood species should be reliably protected against mould and fungal attack with a suitable coating. We offer special oil-based coatings for this purpose, such as Osmo Holzschutz Öl-Lasur and Osmo Öl-Farbe. These contain biocides, and thus they prevent moss, algae or fungi from settling on the coating.

Osmo protect your wooden cladding against mould, fungal and algae.

4. CAN I INSTALL AND COAT OSMO CLADDING PROFILES BY MYSELF?

Since Osmo supports you with detailed information and instructions for each product, you can install and coat by yourself without any problems. In addition, our installation instructions explain all work steps to you and provide further helpful tips and advice for a correct installation. For the right surface treatment, you will find numerous videos in the media library, in which we show you the correct application for our various coating systems.

5. WHICH COATING SYSTEM DOES OSMO RECOMMEND FOR THE CLADDING?

Generally speaking, timber cladding is best protected in the long term with microporous coatings. This is because coating that seal off the surface airtight can cause the finest hairline cracks. As a result, moisture penetrates and damages the wood, making costly repairs necessary.

Osmo recommends microporous coatings for timber cladding. Cladding is also available as Black Stripe

6. IS THERE A CLEAR PROTECTION?

Osmo offers UV-Schutz-Öl with UV protection factor 12, which preserves the natural colour of wood twelve times longer than unprotected wood. For many wood species, this means that they only turn grey after three to four years and not after three to four months.
