Create a trendy vintage look on garden furniture with products from Osmo

Vintage is a catchword in both furniture and fashion design. The essence of this style is patina and signs of aging. It does not matter whether the wear on the furniture is authentic or created artificially. With a few utensils, this used look is really easy to create by yourself!

One example is in the garden. Here with a flick of the wrist, a new wooden bench can be transformed into an old, romantic garden bench. Equipped with fine sandpaper, Osmo Flat Brush, WR Base Coat as well as Country Colour in Traffic Grey and White, you are ready to get started. Of course, any other colours from the Osmo colour range can be used. It is only important that the first coat is the darker of the two colours.

First, the bench is treated with WR Base Coat. It repels water and helps to prevent rot, blue stain and insect attack. Now, the furniture should dry for at least twelve hours, before in the second step, the first coat with Country Colour Traffic Grey is carried out. Then it is time to wait again; this coat should also have twelve hours to dry. The second coat in White is applied with a brush as well and will dry within half of a day. Now finally the sandpaper is put to work; with this, the unmistakeable vintage look is created. With a very fine grit, the top layer is carefully sanded away so that the layer below shines through. Signs of wear have an especially natural look when special attention is given to the edges. Remember: always work with the grain!

In our magazine Wood Meets Colour , you can find not only step-by-step instructions for a vintage look, but also further inspiration for more projects around the home and garden.
